Amber Onyx has been a signature stone for me for over ten years. I create both sculptural and functional works through this stone.
"This stone blows me away!!"

Honeycomb calcite (also known as Amber Onyx or Honey Onyx) is mined exclusively in Northern Utah after being discovered accidentally in 1995. Honeycomb calcite differs from other calcites with greater strength and stability, and its unique luminosity and color. This variety of calcite is also distinguished by the honeycomb-like cellular pattern of the stone. The patterns range from tight, small hexagonal cells grouped closely together to large cell areas when cells have achieved maximum growth. The varying color of the stone is attributed to the level of iron and sulphur deposits at the time of formation and the particular thickness of the stone.
